Perspicacity and Pagan Art

Perspicacity as defined by Merriam-Webster is:

acute mental vision or discernment

More specifically, it’s the ability to understand or gain insight. As much fun as it is to say, perspicacity strikes me as a unifying core goal of many, if not most, Pagan paths.  We seek to understand; to grow our vision to see all that the world(s)/universe is and has to offer.

Play it Again, Sam

I don’t know how many of you folks have visited DeviantArt, but I figured that since I’ve been a bit consumed lately, I would try to double my journal entries from there over here.  That way, no one has to worry that I’ve fallen off the face of the earth.

Time slips by at this time of year like it’s coated in butter.  The last little while I have been focused on replacing a lot of my old art supplies with new and high quality supplies.  When you only get 2 – 3 hours a day to yourself, this process takes a while. GP 2012 – Days 28, 29 & 30

These days passed in the blink of an eye.  I have a good excuse, though. Still working steady on the prep for my new watercolour.

Which brings me to my gratitude post for the last three days:

1. I am grateful that even after ten years of relative disuse, I can still pull myself back to my previous skill level with only a few days of practise.

2. I am grateful to have discovered an art supplies store that is practically across the street from my house.

3. I am grateful that this coming Labour Day weekend is BBQ on the Bow in Calgary!  I am SO excited to go to a BBQ contest.  Gonna wear stretchy-waisted pants! lol

The Muse Abides by $techgnotic on deviantART

Ask any artist about “emptiness” and they’ll tell you about the constant recurring nightmarish emptiness they must face down almost every day as a part of their vocation: the blank space that they must fill. Whether he’s a painter facing a blank canvas or she’s a poet facing a blank computer screen, the blank space awaiting transformation at the hand of the artist can be the loneliest and cruelest place on earth.

Do you work with the muses in magical sense?  Do you have an embodied muse who inspires you?
